What happens when you get three legends together for one music video? That’s just what the clip for Puff Daddy‘s “Finna Get Loose” explores, as the project combines the work of producer Pharrell Williams, director Hype Williams, and Diddy himself.
For those of you unfamiliar with Hype Williams, the guy pretty much owned the ’90s on MTV, directing iconic clips like Missy Elliott’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” Blackstreet’s “No Diggity,” and Busta Rhymes’ “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.” Additionally, Williams worked many times with Puffy, including the Notorious B.I.G. video for “Mo Money Mo Problems” and “Big Poppa,” as well as the tribute song “I’ll Be Missing You.”

In this new clip, the trio channel the past, further back than the aforementioned classic Williams clips; it goes way, way back to an earlier era from which hip-hop originated. Williams opts for a black and white treatment to show Puff Daddy rapping in the underground.
Puff Daddy’s next album, No Way Out 2, is expected to be out soon.
